Why Boat Trips with Oceandiversity?

Sea Adventures NZ

Local Knowledge

Every reef, every island, every current has a story, and we love sharing them with you. From fascinating marine life insights to local history and hands-on conservation knowledge, your group will leave inspired and connected.

Small Groups, Big Connections

Forget crowded boats and cookie-cutter tours. With deliberately small groups, everyone gets space, personalised attention, and the freedom to truly immerse themselves in the adventure.

Comfort and Care Onboard

Our purpose-built 2024 Stabicraft is safe, modern, and designed for comfort. Add our warm Kiwi hospitality, hot drinks, and friendly crew, and you’ve got the perfect setting for a smooth, stress-free day.

Access to Extraordinary Places

Our operational range stretches from Great Barrier Island to Whangaroa Harbour — places of dramatic drop-offs, vibrant reefs, and untouched coastlines most operators won’t take you.

Safety You Can Rely On

Adventure is only fun when you feel safe. That’s why we run with Maritime certified operations, top navigation gear, and decades of skipper experience. You’re in safe hands from start to finish.

Eco-conscious Adventures

Every charter is run with the environment in mind, because protecting the ocean we love is non-negotiable.

Our six most popular locations

Poor Knights Islands
Marine Reserve

While spearfishing is not permitted inside the reserve, nearby waters offer prime hunting grounds with schools of Snapper and Kingfish patrolling dramatic drop-offs. Perfect for advanced spearos who want a mix of breathtaking freediving and serious fish encounters.

Cape Brett & Motu Kōkako
(Hole in the Rock)

Iconic, rugged, and teeming with marine life. These waters offer a mix of pelagic opportunities and reef species in stunning settings. A go-to site when southerly winds make other areas less accessible.

Mokohinau Islands
(The Mokes)

Remote, pristine, and full of life — the Mokes are a spearfishing paradise. Expect world-class visibility, abundant pelagics, and the chance to target Kingfish and Snapper in unpressured waters.

Great Barrier Island

With depths ranging from 5m to 25m, the Great Barrier suits spearos of all levels. Hunt Snapper, Blue Mao Mao, and Butterfish around kelp forests, or chase Kingfish along dramatic walls. Crayfish often lurk in cracks and caves for those with sharp eyes.

Hen & Chickens Islands

A favourite for both beginner and intermediate spearos. Shallow reefs and sheltered spots provide safe hunting grounds, while deeper walls challenge advanced divers. Expect Snapper, Trevally, and seasonal Crayfish.

Bay of Islands

A diver’s playground with wrecks, reefs, and sanctuaries, from the HMNZS Canterbury to marine-rich Deep Water Cove.
