…it’s a way to connect with the ocean on its own terms. And Northland offers some of the best hunting grounds in the country. Whether you’re new to the sport or a seasoned spearo, Oceandiversity’s dedicated spearfishing charters give you the chance to chase iconic fish species in stunning, pristine waters.
With our focus on small groups, safety, and sustainability, every trip is designed to deliver not only an adrenaline rush but also a deep respect for the ecosystems we explore.

Depending on the season, you could find yourself hunting: Big Snapper, Boar Fish, Kingfish, John Dory, Trevally, Kahawai, Crayfish (in season) and with luck, pelagic visitors like Marlin or Tuna.
Every catch is guided by local regulations and our own stricter, eco-conscious limits, ensuring your hunt is sustainable and the ocean remains healthy for future generations.

We’ll take you to secret reefs, hidden drop-offs, and remote islands where the fish thrive, spots only a skipper who knows these waters inside and out can deliver.

We cap trips at 6 spearos, so you’ll never feel crowded or pressured—just time, space, and support to hunt at your own pace.

Step aboard our purpose-built 2024 Stabicraft, fully kitted with all safety gear, navigation systems, and space for your equipment.

Whether it’s Mokohinau Islands or Hen & Chickens Islands, every trip promises its own drama, from volcanic arches to technicolour reefs to encounters with some of the ocean’s most captivating marine life.

We’re committed to protecting the marine environment we love. That means thoughtful practices, minimal impact, and always respecting the balance of the ocean.

Hot drinks and a crew that treats you like whānau. Because great days on the water are about more than just the hunt.

A favourite for both beginner and intermediate spearos. Shallow reefs and sheltered spots provide safe hunting grounds, while deeper walls challenge advanced divers. Expect Snapper, Trevally, and seasonal Crayfish.

Iconic, rugged, and teeming with marine life. These waters offer a mix of pelagic opportunities and reef species in stunning settings. A go-to site when southerly winds make other areas less accessible.

Remote, pristine, and full of life — the Mokes are a spearfishing paradise. Expect world-class visibility, abundant pelagics, and the chance to target Kingfish and Snapper in unpressured waters.

With depths ranging from 5m to 25m, the Great Barrier suits spearos of all levels. Hunt Snapper, Blue Mao Mao, and Butterfish around kelp forests, or chase Kingfish along dramatic walls.

A diver’s playground with wrecks, reefs, and sanctuaries, from the HMNZS Canterbury to marine-rich Deep Water Cove.
Had an amazing time out with Blair. He really knows his spots and put us all on to kings! Was an amazing day and easily the best dive I’ve had for the whole of 2017!
Great boat for getting (quickly) to Great Barrier and the Mokohinaus. Last trip we came up from Wellington stayed locally and Blair really looked after us, including weights.
As a beginner at spearfishing I took my first ever boat trip out with blair an was a epic day.. Blair has great knowledge on selecting spots an also helping with tips and hunting techniques. A very comfortable boat even with a full charter.. Blair runs a awesome friendly trip an do recommend to spearos of any experience always a memorable day.
Ocean diversity is a fantastic spearfishing charter! I really enjoyed the couple of times Blair took us out, he is an awesome guide and really knows his stuff. Blair took us to some great spots, and knew when the fish was "on"! We came home with a great haul and even scored a crayfish on our first trip out! Would highly recommend this charter with the pleasure of having a friendly, knowledgeable skipper.
Blair runs a great charter, and knows the spots, times and tides to pick up great fish. Can't wait to get back out with Oceandiversity.
Recently we took a morning boating trip with OceanDIVEsity, departing Marsden Cove, out to the Hen and Chicken Islands off the coast of Bream Bay. We had a great morning. Only six people on board plus Blair and he took us to some really superb places to snorkel.
